Italian Serie A: Ranieri replaces Gasperini

The Inter Milan management has appointed Claudio Ranieri as their new manager after the axing of Gian Piero Gasperini yesterday.

Ranieri has had the experience of being the manager of Roma, Juventus, Valencia and Chelsea, and was brought in after the former Italian giants were off to a shoddy start to their season. They have lost five games and that meant that the manager Gasperini was given the marching orders.

According to a statement on the website, Ranieri was officialy unveiled as the manager for a period of two years till June 30, 2013.

He has often been called ‘The Tinkerman’, and hasn’t coached any side since he left Roma in February. He becomes the fourth man to coach the side after Jose Mourinho exited with the likes of Rafael Benitez, Leonardo and Gasperini discovering the hardships of managing the side, the hard way.

Ranieri said that he was looking to get the better from the side and wouldn’t like to promise too much.
